Steve:

My boss, who is also an amateur astronomer, has an old C-14, and he broke some sort of bracket on the tripod. He took the broken part with him on a business trip we made to California and we stopped at the Celestron plant. They gave him a new replacement part on the spot -- no charge, even though the telescope was over 20 years old!

Encouraged by that, I sent them the drive base from my Ultima Eight that had just stopped working. They replaced the electronics board -- again, no charge!

Of course, that was the OLD Celestron (before Tasco bought them out). Don't know if they still have that kind of customer service.

I'm new on this forum -- spent many years on the old Compuserve astronomy forum before finding out about this one; but I notice you posted back in June, and you've probably gotten the answer already. If not, give Celestron a try.

Clear Skies,
John Siers
