I have a Celestron CGE 11 inch SCT. My problem is the secondary mirror housing. The manual said in order to gain access to the collimation screws you must turn the seconday mirror housing to gain access to the screws. The optical tube I got with scope is a CPC tube and in order to get tohte collimation screws you simply pull the cover on the secondary. I ried the instructions from the manual which said to turn the cover. I ended up loosening the secondary housing. Now when I look down the visual back at the secondary mirror housing it is scewerd to one side. On closer examination of the housing from the correcror plate you can see that the housing is damaged on the inside of the corrector plate.
Is it possible to obtain a new housing barrel and remove the corrector plate and install a new barral? I know I must mark the corrector in order to get it back exactly where it was after replacing the barrell. Or should I just give up and pay Celeston $500.00 to $1000.00 to repair it? I don't want to do that because I probably wouldn't get the scope back for 6 months.
