C8 Powerstar III Has Slipping RA Circle

Hi,
I recently bought a 1980's vintage C8 Powerstar III? with inbuilt 12V RA drive (Australia). The drive works fine although it makes a rattling noise and you can see the RA circle move as it should. If you then want to point to a new star by hand, the RA circle sometimes slips and stays set with the base. There must be a way of adjusting the pressure on the RA setting circle but how?
Any ideas?
Jack
