Byers Drive Lead On Super C8+ (or Ultima 8?aaa)

Hi I have aquired a rather nice, if a little old celestron c8. The tripod is the wedge mount. The drive is the byers drive type. I have been told that it is functional but have no lead.

Am I right in thinking that this is for a straight mains a.c. supply.

If so I have a further question the scope I have is from the states, 110 v, 60HZ a.c.

I am using it in the UK , 230 v, 50Hz a.c.

I am hoping to power from battery using an inverter, I believe that I could buy an inverter from the states and this should work sweetly. Or quite easily I could use a transformer 230/110, but maybe the frequency may matter.

Advice please.
THanks

Tony
