Nesstar 8i Power Problem

Last week I suddenly lost power to my Nexstar 8i while using the powertank. I think I may have gotten my foot tangled up in the cord, but I didn't jerk the cord or even end up putting any significant tension on the cord (it's an 8' cord to my Celestron Powertank 12v source).

A few seconds after this, I lost power. I put in 8 AA batteries, and everything was working. I tried putting in the Powertank cord again, and it started getting hot. I figured I must have broken the cord or at leas the insulation. Today I put in a new cord and while it doesn't get hot, there's still no power to the scope. (Yes, the battery is fully charged and works).

Any ideas? Please don't tell me I have to ship my scope (purchased in Nov 2004) back to the dealer. I couldn't take being scopeless for weeks or months.

Julio
