Well, I'm kind of new also, but I've been told by a dealer of both, that the difference is in the coatings used on the lenses. The Ultimas have, presumably, the most "ultimate" coatings Celestron offers.

Plossls are the most widely used, most assuredly due to the price. I bought 4 additional Plossl oculars, and I didn't get much pressure (none) to upgrade to the Ultima's from the dealer. The Celestron Plossels seem to have a good reputation, so unless you have a high end scope, or plan on doing some serious camera photography, I'd say save your money and go with the Plossls. This is *not* an expert opinion, mind you, but I *think* it's pretty accurate.

I'm unsure as to whether there are any other significant differences between them.
