Horizontal Tracking Jams

I've recently bought a secondhand Nexstar 114GT (oh no, I hear you say), but it's jamming on occassions when it's turning horizontally. After putting a light pressure horizontally on the telescope it again begins to turn.

Has anyone experienced this ? Is it the motor or the mount that would be at fault ?

I was thinking of disassembling the mount and lubing it with WD-40. Anyone have any experience of this.
