Celestar 8 Questions

I have a Celestar 8 scope and wanted to upgrade the wedgepod to a deluxe tripod and wedge. Good idea?
I also have a 25mm SMA eyepiece and wanted to get other eyepieces. What range of ep's would you guys suggest? I am interested in basic stargazing with special interest in Messier objects. Thanks alot.
