Thank you, Roger for sharing your experiences with the above scopes and controllers. I visited Company Seven, a retailer run by extremely knowledgeable experts in optics in fact advised the Next Star OTA mounted on a G-11 as you have chosen. I am trying to arrange a visit to a member of my local club who has a C-11/G-11, I believe with electronic setting circles (although not the Gemini), so I can see for myself how user friendly at least his system is(or is not).
I currently have an older C-8 and use its mechanical setting circles to find objects but it is not precise and although rewarding, is time consuming. I am thinking that my priority is to be able to locate objects such as Deep Sky quickly for the enjoyment of it. At some point I may do some limited astrophotography, but this is less of a priority. So, if ECS or Gemini do not suit my ease of operation, I may go with the NExtStar.
