Collimating Practically

I have a Celestron 8 (an old telescope not the new goto ones) and I think it needs collimation.
2 desperate questions: a) How do I know it needs collimation? b) Can anyone tell me practically how to collimate it without a laser tool I don't have one.
Thanks a lot in advance.
