The book "The CCD Camera Cookbook" is the start of everything. It has the software and the instructions for building the camera.
If you desire you can get both the mechanical parts for the head and the PCBs. Depending upon how much you have in the way of a workshop, you may want to pick up the mechanical parts but the PCBs should be bought as you can`t make them as cheaply. As to the rest of the parts, you can buy them as a kit or anywhere good electronics parts are sold. There is a cookbook camera website around along with Richard Berry.
