I have this idea I cant get out of my mind. I am trying to resolve the issue of competition amoung black holes. Suppose you have two large stars that go into stellar collapse at rougly the same time. They both begin to form black holes. Each "grows" and begins to compete for nearby matter. Eventually, one outgrows the other; it then starts to suck the matter back out of the other black hole. Interesting implications for theories on universal development. If there is universal competition for matter amoung black holes, then perhaps our big bang was in fact the black hole that "won" in the previous competition. This simply repeats itself ad infinitum. What do you think? Is anybody working on competition among black holes??? I think there may be an alternate solution here to the question "are black holes really black" than was forwarded by S. Hawkings.John F McGuire III
