The reference to that concept of only using a small portion of your brain was from a statement that was taken out of context over 90 years ago. At the time it was not known how much of the brain was used for normal function vs information processing. We are, in fact, complex living beings. We were able to crack our own DNA code.

It is more likely to assume that people do not use most of their brain by choice.
