You believe everything you read in Discovery? How about a solution for this happening for both spinning and non-spinning models? Because of the frame dragging effect for spinning black holes such a solution might exist but I would suspect this is verbage to convey a mental picture for interested amateurs. Begelman has quite a few papers in the archive but I couldn't find anything that featured space falling into the black hole. Just exactly how would you observe space falling into a black hole? Just where does it end up and what is its physical properties?
