Quintessence

Cosmologists are studying two (maybe more?) possibilities for handling the speedup of inflation. The cosmological constant is one and quintessence is the other. They are similar, but the ;atter is somewhat more flexible. The Jan. 2001 issue of Scientific American has several related articles on this whole area. |
