Mass And Energy Is The Same Thing

Both energy and mass fall with the same acceleration - why do you distinguish them? In your example it does not matter when mass turns into kinetic energy or vice versa - both are components of 4-vector, and total energy is the same in both cases -whether only mass is falling or kinetic energy only (photon) or the mixture of both mass and kinetic energy (neutrino). |
