If your going to talk about Einstein's view at least get it right.
In SR there are two constants of the motion
E/m=dt/dt=g
and
p/m=ds/dt
mass m is
m2=m2(dt/dt)2 - m2(ds/dt)2
E2=p2+m2
when at rest
Erest=mrest
Erest/mrest=1
In the Schwarzchild geometry
E/m=(1-2M/r)dt/dt=1
E=m(1-2M/r)dt/dt
When r is very large E=m.
There is no potential energy in GR. Energy is a total of energy associated with speed, location and mass.
