Your logic is incorrect.

His statement "1. The subsets must be finite" refers to the actual number of subsets, not the number of valid subsets.

Again, it is the actual sensations that can be enumerated, not all possible "valid" sensations. Although "t" is continous, the validity of the parameter passed to the function is dependent on the subsets themselves. In other words, each subset selector is a value of type "t", but this does not imply that each continous value refers to a valid subset.
