Your comment about the simplest theory being the correct one... Superstring theory/M-theory are supposed to do is explain that the universe is the way it is because it MUST be that way. Of course, the theory is still incomplete, so nothing really concrete can be extracted except for a few post-dictions yet. Adding God would be an unneeded factor, like the appendix. (Please don't respond with comments about how useful/les the apendix is, it was not meant literally).
