The place had all ages, and inpatient/outpatient/rehab/criminals ('forensic'); first 5 years at outpatient unit, then 4 years at geriatric unit - secretary, family contact, patient contact, etc. today's a full moon, an especially exciting time at such places...as for depressing, yeah for the sane. was just speaking with my husband the other day re: his dad dying of lung cancer without ever having smoked, and the factor of stress and its impact. for example, the geriatrics, age 90+, happy in their delusions and smoking prolificly - no stress, no problem (to them) - not even a cough. weird. almost. but stress will turn tables on a perfectly mentally fit person. maybe the insane ones don't have that far too go further with stress, so it's less of a 'fall'? ;) and maybe that's what makes cognizant people reluctant to relax in realm of stress lest they think themselves/be thought of as nuts? hmmmm...
