Can't use the word then to mean the time I am actually writing this message.

The above sentences are actually more correct in that the points of reference are all relevant to the PAST from the point of the reference of the point of forever! (or eternity-future and eternity-past)

Thanks for demonstrating with your examples on how our language would be better served if we wrote in this manner, as the one who writes this then, is a witness to these examples as explained.
