Sure. An electric dipole is defined as two charges located seperated by a given distance. If I have two masses seperated by a given distance one might call that a dipole to. I thought that is what the other person meant by dipole motion - ie two masses moving around each other. However there is a quantity called the "dipole moment." For two electric charges this is non-zero. For two masses this is zero. |
