: It is a macroscopic explanation of gravity in terms of equivalence. There is no misconception. Sure there is a misconception. But because you don't have the misconcpetion that others do that doesn't meant that nobody does. People tend to believe, erroneously, that general relativity explains gravity by assuming almost nothing. Bascially I think that comment by Eddington is correct.
