: I have a question...when matter closes in on a black whole and goes through the process of spaghettification, wouldn't the strands of matter orbit the singularity rather than become a part of it? I mean, the gravity well around the singularity is very high, and the mass of the matter is tiny, but wouldn't it happen in theory?

Spaghettification is misleading at best. Most black holes are not Swartzschild, but are Kerr. In other words they have a great deal of spin. Anything falling into the static limit must revolve around the hole with its rotation, although, large enough objects will experience stresses.
