Your information concerning galaxy ages versus big bang age is incorrect. Sound requires a material medium. One elementary science experiment I remember (from 9th grade?) was a noise source inside an inverted glass bowl with a vacuum pump - once the air was pumped out, you couldn't here the noise, although it kept clapping. :
