: : I was wondering what a black hole was and can it be closed? For a good description read "Black Holes and Time Warps" by Kip Thorne. The short answer is a black hole is an object which has a sufficiently strong gravitational field that the escape velocity is greater than the velocity of light, so that nothing can escape. Technically it is not a hole, but it looks like one, since it is completely invisible. |
