: : Before we can really get into a true discussion around "time-travel" we must come to an understanding and agreement about space-time.

: As I understand it, we (the collective) have observed a very close relationship between space and time. Via observations, lots of thought, and some mathematical physics, we have "modelled" our universe in a 4-dimensional space: 3 spatial dimensions and 1 time dimension. Further, the relationship between the spatial component and the time component seems so tightly integrated that it now becomes difficult to separate the two. So far this seems to make sense.

: Further observation of the universe, we notice that this 4 dimensional space is not necessarily Euclidean. In particular, it has been shown that this "space" actually warps in some areas mainly due to gravity (around planets, etc.).

: This is where it gets a bit more interesting...

: Black holes, having such strong gravitational forces, seems to punch a hole into that space-time continuum. This led some to far-reaching hypothesis that it may be possible that, in these cases, the space-time continuum actually warps so much as to actually "fold" onto itself. If this is true (and if we could discover a way to survive a black hole), then we might be able to "tunnel" through the continuum to another place AND TIME.

: Beyond this rudimentary notion of time travel, we can only speculate about the feasibility of making time travel feasible for us.
