: Z.C. Are you working in, or following string theory?

I'm not working in it, but its promising so I follow the news within it.

:If so, what is your general opinion of its future prospects in bringing about a unified theory?

It is a unification theory in that it does unify the forces under root cause, the string. The different modes are the different force carriers. The different force carriers are different manifestations of the same thing. It is just not yet a widely publicized accepted unification theory, yet. I thinks its future prospects as remaining a valid theory and becoming widely accepted are good.
