: M theory is new. It is a unification of five strings. In string theory the different particle types, including force carriers are different string modes. In this sense all the forces are unified in the theory as they are all different aspects of the same thing, the string.

Z.C. Are you working in, or following string theory? If so, what is your general opinion of its future prospects in bringing about a unified theory?
