No, but gravity and the Electro-magnetic force are mediated by the graviton and the photon which are both different modes of a string.

M theory is new. It is a unification of five strings. In string theory the different particle types, including force carriers are different string modes. In this sense all the forces are unified in the theory as they are all different aspects of the same thing, the string.
