: Could Someone please tell me what the following variables : in Kerr's equation for the angular velocity of a black hole : stand for?:

: 'a','r','theta'.

: Thankyou.

a is sometimes called the rotation parameter or specific angular momentum. The first is more common, but I prefer the latter. It is related to the angular momentum of the black hole J and the mass of the hole M by a = J/Mc.

Some representations of the black hole's geometry make use of spherical coordinates. r is the radial coordinate from the hole. You may choose to think of it as a coordinate for distance from the center of the hole.

q, what your calling theta, is a coordinate for describing polar angle position.

f, or Phi, is coordinate for the azymuthal angle.

t is the coordinate for time.

These coordinates for reasons of convenience are coordinates used by an observer who is remote from the hole.
