Did God create us in his image or vice versa???
I find myself agreeing with you here Mike. However, I am not 100% convinved about the absolute "oneness" or immutability of the space-time fabric it seems that space/time was not at one "time"... could the forces that created this not tear it apart again? or possibally create another "ball" of space-time next to the one we are currently in? I tend to think so, but I am very much open. I do not claim to know "the mind of God" and I wonder if we will, even in part, if we do discover the elusive "theory of everything" as Stephen Hawkings puts it.
