| Spaceship Traveling Near The Speed Of Light

Suppose you had a spaceship that accelerated to near the speed of light. We know from the theory of relativity that as an object speeds up its mass increase and its dimension in the direction of travel shortens. If the spaceship travels close enough to the speed of light, can it become so massive that it ends up turning into a black hole and cutting itself off from the rest of the universe? I think it can. This would prevent matter from ever reaching the speed of light and all those nasty divide by zero problems that would occur. |
