: Could you perhaps be thinking of a magnetic field generated by the accretion disk of matter falling into a black hole, from a companion star? This not only produces a magnetic field, but also the x-ray emissions that are the strongest indicator of a black hole candidate. No, a hole can have a magnetic field without any kind of accretion disc. an isolated hole has what is termed a frozen magnetic field, I just don't know what this means. |
