i cant speak for everyone, only myself. the fact that such amazingly weird objects could/do exist in our universe is enough for me. i know ill never get to see one or a neutron star or probably any other star for that matter, but to me, compared with space and all it has to offer, everything on earth seems quite boring (except for golf).

: I find it strange that so many people have a genuine intrest in black holes. After all, we won't reach an actual black hole in our lifetime, or the next five lifetimes for that matter. When we actually reach the famed event horizon, we will be sucked into the blackhole and instantly destroyed. If we do travel through time or another dimention, all that will be left of us are the crushed atoms that you and the ship were made of. Sure, it's a great plot in science fiction stories, but has absolutly no affect on the real world. Please explain to me why this interest is so strong. : Keep in mind that this is a gentleman's opinion and needs no heated response. You can take it out elsewhere. A simple, kind explination from someone who knows what he's talking about (not a teen slacker)would be perfect.
