That's Great!!! Its so gratifying to hear of young kids so eager to learn about this stuff, and parents willing to listen!

First of all, it would be very difficult to explain black holes to 4th graders, but I will try to define one the simplest way possible: A black hole is an object or place with gravity so strong, that nothing, not even light can escape from it.

If your fourth grader can understand that, they can understand quite a bit! If he/she has any questions, be sure to post them and we'll try to answer them as simply as possible.
