Your right and I've been confused by this for a long time. A lot of people in my opionion have a screwed up idea about waves. You can't just have a wave move through nothing. Waves are changes in matter in a direction or charge. Now I'll only mention gravity a little, because I don't think it has much to do with this subject. Gravity goes out from an object at light speed. Lets asume I move a little farther away from you, we'll you won't feel that change in gravity for some small amount of time. That "wave" going out could be concidered a "gravity-wave" if you really wanted to call it that. I don't like the term "light-waves" because we are only talking about points of force, that force is changing, so I guess in some ways you could call it a wave, but it's a property of the point, not really a "wave" on it's own. |
