Not being a physics expert please consider my thoughts accordingly. I find it hard to believe that anything could be shot away from a black hole. My guess is that anything that is grabs, accelerates towards the incredibly dense center and then it's mass fuses with the center of the BH. This would then give off some additional energy which instantaneously gets absorbed also.
