Gamma rays "see" stuff as empty space populated by nuclei and electrons. Therefore they go though stuff unless they get close enough to interact. Typical lengths on this scale are around 10^-12 centimeters. The pores you are describing are much smaller, and don't make any physical sense.


Microwaves "see" stuff as solid.
