I searched google, the final word on what exists even in fantasy, and I searched the Cornell archives of all the physics done in the past 20 years for "ring black hole"

There was no title of a physics paper with that name in it. Google produced one hit. It was used on a forum: CloudBurst.

My guess is that what the teacher was really talking about was a wormhole. He/she should not say they really exist. They are purely theoretical, and from a not-so-pure theory.
