an amusing read, however, the doomsday predictions belong inside a 19th century tent next to the snake oil. calculatios predict it will take about 100 gev to manufacture a microscopic black hole. calculations also predict the dark-hearted little fellows will almost instantly evaporate via hawking radiation. while hawking radiation emission from a black hole has never actually been observed, it is required by the laws of thermodynamics: of which no entity has ever been observed not to obey.

the conditions that existed in the early universe were far more energetic and than could ever be duplicated on earth. if the LHC doomsday scenario were valid, the universe would appear far different [if at all] than it does today. the same goes for strangelets, if you happened to read about that. i rather liked that theory as it bestows us with the power to destroy the entire universe instead of one measly planet. no wonder those evil aliens are afraid to invade... i'll get you and your little galaxy, my pretty.
