FOOD NOT BOMBS
Group which distributes cooked vegetarian food in public to the homeless, the hungry and general public, partly as a form of non-violent protest. Began in the early 1970s in San Francisco as a protest against US military spending during the Vietnam War when so many were going without. Has since spread across USA and around the world including New Zealand. Informal groups under the banner still do the work, setting up their pots and tables at various human rights protests. In the USA they have been subject to arrest.
