2, because I don't think anything is impossible. I find it extremely unlikely, however, that the brightest minds in physics would have overlooked something so basic. The current model works very well, for the most part. If there were to be a revolution, it would probably be an extension of current models, not a complete overhaul. I can think of no time in modern science where such an overhaul was necessary.
