I am making up this outline as I go
from memory, but you can look things up
from both sides and resolve their differences...

1) Compare nuclear power's worker safety
record to coal, natural gas, and petroleum industries.
2) Compare the risk of nuclear waste leakage in
areas where geologic timescales show very few quakes in a million years
with the risks of not having enough energy
and having your community go into whatever
slump they would have without that energy.
3) Compare the pollution from all energy producing industries. Get real figures.
4) See where nuclear power is actually produced
safely, and how much, and how long it has been going on. France, Japan, and the United States are some interesting places to start.
5) Separate in your mind the modern nuclear industry from the industry of 35-45 years ago. They don't do things the way they used to.
6) See the cause of Chernobyl's tragic events in context of a crumbling Soviet Union where all that could go wrong did go wrong...and then some.
