...to keep you out of trouble. Just referencing Mike's "stone age dogmatist" remark. I appreciate free thinkers.

I agree with the problems of assumptions; having been burned lots. The problem of preconceived ideas goes even farther than coming up with our own. We see typical physics books that are into the 5th edition. This is not simply additions or errata corrections. Sometimes ideas are changed radically on the basis of new information. "The old order changeth, yielding place to the new."

It is the job of the latest generation to test the theories of the last generation... once power is transferred.

For instance, according to conventional physics, we'll never get to the stars. Our chemical-reaction rocket engines have taken us about as far as they can. Solar sails and ion engines are impractical for human space flight. The nearest star is about what; 4-lightyears away.

But the stars are there, and to visit them seems to be a drive within the human psyche.

So the latest generation is going to have to overcome the notions of the old generation; particularly the notions that have been passed on, and are now the "preconceived assumptions" of the current generation.

This applies especially to Einstein's ideas, no matter how much anyone thinks he is right.

If we are to get to the stars, the fatally severe limitations of Relativity must be destroyed.

But as you point out, we also need a Social Philosophy upgrade.
