they would just be talking about other 'dimensions' [of some sort]
of the [one] universe.
note the prefix 'uni'; doesn't that mean one?

Could it be that the universe is the only actual
example of the number one? i.e. even the smallest
particle they know about, the quark, is at least TWO of something!

in fact the universe itself is made of two 'twos'... time/space and matter/energy
