I want to try and clear things up before I retreat from this conversation for a period of reflection. In my earlier post, entitled "anti-energy" I stated:

There needs to be no mechanism for generating negative or anti energy; because of the dual nature of EM waves, and the continuous radiation caused by orbiting electrons and other shifting charges in all matter, there is the possibility of alternate charge, or spin alignment in cross-flowing (standing) waves of equal wavelength between bodies of matter. This is what causes gravitational attraction, not the emission of anti-energy.

By the dual nature of EM waves I do not imply wave/particle duality, but rather energy/anti-energy duality. So we do not have photons pushing and gravitons pulling. We have photons and gravitons being attracted to one another and thru alternate spacing in cross flowing standing waves we have inherent tension in said waves.

As for the composition or structure of the ether, we do not yet have this figured out. Perhaps some good hallucinogenics might shed light into unknown depths. For the present, I suggest considering any hypothesis that allows for transverse waves. The simplicity and elegance of energy/anti-energy duality render it difficult to discard conceptually.
