Ray,
You are like a beacon of light, temporarily illuminating great trains of thought, many old and better left in the past, as are the coal burning steam engines that plied the tracks in the days of Einstein and Lorentz. Your beacon shines also upon unknown ships, carrying cargos that may bring wealths of understanding and illumination, or puzzles better left unchallenged. It shines too on faces unknown, like the strobe in dimly lit clubs, where intriguing figures are seen only for moments at a time. We observe them and watch their moves.
I will again define the photon as a packet of swirling ether, nothing more. This ether, which may be the substrate we seek, is as close as we can conceive of a frictionless medium.
When matter vibrates, it should produce waves in the ether. If we consider the vibrations as the orbital movements of electrons, and shifting charged atomic nuclei, we have the conditions for creating EM waves.
I believe that George Bugh of the Vasant Corporation shares my views in this regard. Find their site at: http://www.vasantcorporation.com/
if you wish. I have not contacted them but find their ideas in harmony with my conceived mechanism for gravity.
As for my remark about the average value of energy in empty space being zero, you can find a good description of this in Brian Greene's book "The Elegant Universe" in the notes section, Chapter 5.3.
It is interesting that high concentrations of energy in space cause the creation of electrons and positrons, particles and antiparticles. I find this supportive of the theory that energy and anti-energy travel together in the same waves. Anti-energy manifests itself in the graviton which is nothing more than a photon with opposite spin and vector. |
