the "next" real-number in succession to 1, on the continuum number line?

It is difficult to conceive... but perhaps in the continuum of points on the number line... .999999 (ad infinitum) is the number that comes "right before" 1.

1.000000...(ad infinitum)...0001 comes "next"?
