As for causality, if Uncertainty is a causal relation intimately bound up with vacuum properties, and if Uncertainty is in fact a causal relationship, then the vacuum itself must in some way participate in cause and effect, at the least on a quantum level, and of course quantum level reality underlies our macro level reality.

As for the question of whether there can ever be a true vacuum in which nothing, real or virtual, particle or force, can exist - well, that would seem to be something outside of our universe. I am reminded of Eddington's statement that there is only mind and matter. Without mind, matter is meaningless, and without matter, mind has nothing to work with. Reflect and enjoy!
